a design methodology fuelled by you

truly personalized approach

our design philosophy and methodology centers on creating spaces that can resonate with you. We blend interior architecture, design, and acoustics to craft environments that reflect your personality, fulfill your needs, and inspire your daily life through our tripartite process.

discovery

Discovery involves exploring your personality, preferences, values, and style, building a foundation that reflects your unique identity and design vision.

alignment

Alignment is the amalgamation of the design with your lifestyle and spatial requirements, incorporating practical needs and aspirations to create a space that you can live in.

refinement

Refinement is where the schematic design is fine-tuned, ensuring the final design will be a space that feels uniquely yours and authentically mirrors your unique style and personality.

discovery
discovering personality and interests
We begin by learning who you are and what makes you unique. We will delve into your lifestyle, interests, and inspirations to discover what resonates with you on a personal level. This insight forms the foundation of our design, making the space authentically yours.

understanding your story
Next, we explore your background, goals, and the vision you have for your space. By learning about your personal journey, we gather insights that shape the direction of the design, ensuring it reflects your story in a way that feels true to you.

identifying key spaces
We discuss the areas that are most important to you and what you hope to achieve in each. This allows us to understand how you envision using the space, setting priorities that align with your daily life and the experiences you want to create.
alignment
schematic visualization
We explore your style preferences, from colors and textures to overall themes. This phase is about connecting with what visually appeals to you, finding elements that evoke the feelings you want in your space, and blending these into a cohesive design concept.

assess practical needs
We consider the practical aspects that influence the design, such as functional requirements and spatial constraints. By addressing these elements, we ensure the design aligns not only with your aesthetic preferences but also with the realities of how you will use the space.

set budget and priorities
We outline your budget and identify priorities for the project. This step is about balancing your vision with available resources, ensuring that the most important elements are realized in a way that fits your financial expectations.
refinement
fine-tuning of detailed design
We refine the design, adjusting elements like layout and flow to ensure the space feels right. This is where we fine-tune the vision, aligning it closely with how you want the space to look, feel, and function on a daily basis.

address constraints and budget
We manage any remaining constraints and verify that the design stays within budget. This step is about making thoughtful adjustments that keep the design grounded and practical, without sacrificing the elements that make it special and unique to you.

add personal touches
We focus on the final details that personalize the space, from color choices to textures and furnishings. This phase brings everything together, ensuring the space not only meets your functional needs but also reflects your personality and brings your vision to life.

about.

with a Master’s in Architecture from NUS and certification in Acoustic Building Design, I bring a unique blend of expertise in architecture, acoustics, and interior design to your new home. Currently, I work as an architect at an acoustic consultancy, managing diverse projects across F&B, commercial, and industrial sectors.

Outside of work, I’m passionate about designing comfortable, inspiring living spaces—an interest that shaped my master’s thesis and guided me in creating homes for friends, including my own, reflecting the personalities of my wife and I.

My interests in philosophy, design, architecture, sociology, theology, and technology drive me to create spaces that resonate on a deeper level. I believe design is about more than aesthetics—it’s about crafting a space that truly reflects who you are.

I founded AVLA Design after hearing countless horror stories about interior design experiences that were stressful and impersonal. My goal is to make designing your home enjoyable and personal, creating a space you’ll love coming back to—a true happy habitat.
